The image shows a 50% resolution test shot of the moon made with a Takahashi FSQ-106ED and a Nikon D70s camera. Except for some mild sharpening in Photoshop, this image represents the raw image from the camera.
Taking the original image, blue is enhanced to overcome atmospheric extinction. The result is closer to our expectation of how the moon should appear.
By enhancing the color saturation just a bit, the moon reveals that it is a colorful place. The different hues hint at the geological make up of the moon.
