NGC457 (lower left) and NGC436 (upper right) are located in the constellation of Cassiopeia the queen. NGC457 is commonly known as the "ET Cluster" or the "Owl Cluster" due to the two bright foreground stars (not part of the cluster) that appear as large "eyes" peering back at the observer.

Other designations for NGC 457 include Herschel H42-7 and Caldwell C13. NGC436 is also known as Herschel H45-7.
